Serena reveals top three favorite on-court outfits

While Serena Williams became a household name by letting her racquet do the talking, the 23-time Grand Slam champion is also known for her on-court fashion. In fact, Serena hasn't repeated a Grand Slam outfit in her almost 28 years in the sport's spotlight.

This week at the Australian Open, the fashion icon debuted a striking one-legged catsuit inspired by late Olympic sprinting legend Florence Griffith Joyner (Flo-Jo). The track superstar is still the fastest woman in history in the 100-and 200-meter dashes (setting the record in 1988).

After dismissing Nina Stojanovic, 6-3, 6-2, in her Australian Open second round, Serena spoke about the color-blocked catsuit that pays tribute to the track legend.

"This year we thought of, What can we do to keep elevating the Serena Williams on the court?" Serena said. "The Nike team actually thought of this design of inspiration from Flo-Jo. I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is so brilliant.'"

Growing up, Flo Jo was an athlete she greatly admired. Serena also said the look is "definitely Top 3" and that she keeps texting her Nike design team saying it's one of her favorites outfits.

So, what are Serena's other two favorite on-court fits?

One of them is her iconic 2004 US Open jean skirt look that was inspired by actor James Dean and Andre Agassi (who was the first player to debut jean fabric on the court.) It also happens to be her first outfit she donned under her new contract with Nike. The look turned heads, to say the least.

As if the jean skirt didn't provide enough flare, she paired it with bold leather-looking boots.

As for her other favorite...well, she's still debating, but she knows it's definitely a "tutu" look.

"I was really thinking I need to lay them all out and decide. It's tough because I'm obsessed with tutus. So, that has to be in there somewhere," Serena said.

Who can forget her chic, custom-made one shoulder with a pleated tutu ensemble she wore at the 2018 US Open?

Off the top of the 39-year-old's head, these were some of her all-time favorites. With no signs of hanging up the racquets, she will certainly look to make more fashion statements for the foreseeable future.

The No. 10 seed will next face Anastasia Potapova for a spot in the major's fourth round.
