Serena's husband, Alexis Ohanian, responds to Drake calling him a “groupie” in new song
Meanwhile, fans on Twitter were quick to pull receipts dating back to 2011 of the rapper himself traveling to various WTA tournaments over the years to watch Serena’s matches.

Canadian rapper Drake has just released his latest album, and he pulled no punches in dissing and name-dropping multiple other artists and public figures—including calling Alexis Ohanian, Serena Williams’ husband, “a groupie” in a new song.
Her Loss, Drake’s 16-track collaboration with 21 Savage, includes a line in “Middle of the Ocean” calling out the 23-time Grand Slam champ—rumored to have dated Drake back in 2015—and throwing a barb at Ohanian:
“Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie.
He claim we don't got a problem, but
No, boo, it is like you comin' for sushi...”
But the Reddit co-founder was apparently not amused with being referenced by Serena’s rumored ex, and he took to social media to fire back with the perfect response.
“It's cliche, but life changed when I became a husband + papa,” Ohanian wrote in a Twitter thread. “It's made me 100x better as a man and a businessman. In @serenawilliams I found a partner I knew I would never outgrow, who would always motivate me to be Greater…
“I'm grateful. Everything I accomplished before those hard convos in 2020 is irrelevant to me compared to the work Jr [daughter Olympia] will see me doing now.
“The reason I stay winning is because I'm relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do—including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter.”
Serena, who has never publicly acknowledged her relationship to the rapper, responded to Ohanian’s tweets with a couple of smiling heart emojis.
It’s not the first time that Drake has dropped Serena’s name in a song—she also featured on his Nothing Was The Same track 'Worst Behavior' back in 2013:
"I'm with my whole set,
Tennis matches at the crib—
I swear I could beat Serena when she playin' with her left."
Drake has also famously displayed plenty of “groupie” behavior himself in the past. On Twitter, fans quickly pulled receipts dating back to 2011 of the rapper traveling to various WTA tournaments over the years to watch Serena’s matches.
