All week we’ve been highlighting stats from Serena Williams’ unparalleled career that will in all likelihood never be broken, including winning three majors from match point down, beating No. 1 and No. 2 at the same event eight times and—perhaps the most untouchable one—completing a Career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles.

Our last one might be the most talked about one of all:

The women's Open Era Grand Slam record

Serena has won 23 Grand Slam titles in her career, which at the moment is more than any other woman or man in the Open Era—but with active men's players Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer currently right behind her at 22, 21 and 20, it’s possible she may not hang onto the “woman or man” part of that record.

MOST CAREER GRAND SLAM TITLES, MEN AND WOMEN, OPEN ERA:

  • 23: Serena Williams
  • 22: Steffi Graf
  • 22: Rafael Nadal
  • 21: Novak Djokovic
  • 20: Roger Federer
  • 18: Martina Navratilova
  • 18: Chris Evert
  • 14: Pete Sampras
  • 11: Bjorn Borg
  • 11: Margaret Court

But Serena may hang onto the Open Era women’s record for a long, long time, if not forever, given how far ahead she is of any other active women’s player:

MOST CAREER GRAND SLAM TITLES, ACTIVE WOMEN’S PLAYERS:

  • 23: Serena Williams
  • 7: Venus Williams
  • 4: Naomi Osaka
  • 3: Angelique Kerber
  • 2: Svetlana Kuznetsova
  • 2: Petra Kvitova
  • 2: Victoria Azarenka
  • 2: Garbine Muguruza
  • 2: Simona Halep
  • 2: Iga Swiatek

Serena will kick off what could be her final Grand Slam tournament on Monday night as she takes on Montenegro's Danka Kovinic at the US Open.
