All week we’ve been looking at some of Serena Williams’ most unbreakable records, and there are a lot—but today’s might take the cake:
Winning a Career Golden Slam in both singles AND doubles
Serena is the only player in tennis history, male or female, to complete a Career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles—that means winning all four majors and Olympic gold in both singles and doubles in your career.
She completed her Career Golden Slam in doubles as a 19-year-old—after winning Roland Garros and the US Open in 1999 and Wimbledon and the Sydney Olympics in 2000, she clinched it by winning the 2001 Australian Open. All of those titles (and all her other Grand Slam and Olympic titles in doubles) came with Venus Williams.
She then completed her Career Golden Slam in singles as a 30-year-old—she had already won all four majors by the time she was 21, capturing her first US Open in 1999, her first Roland Garros and Wimbledon titles in 2002 and her first Australian Open in 2003, but she didn’t finish her collection until the London Olympics in 2012.
Even scarier: Serena is just one Olympic singles title away from having a Double Career Golden Slam in singles and doubles, when no one else has done it once.

Serena is one of four players in tennis history to have a Career Golden Slam in singles, alongside Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi and Rafael Nadal, and one of nine players to do it in doubles alongside Pam Shriver, Gigi Fernandez, Todd Woodbridge, Mark Woodforde, Venus Williams, Daniel Nestor, Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan.
