Shapovalov reveals why he took down a poster of Nadal

Sometimes, even the great Rafael Nadal gets taken down a peg.

Denis Shapovalov, who stunned the Spaniard at the 2017 Rogers Cup, shared a "tale of the tour" to explain a poster of the 17-time Grand Slam champion was taken down on account of him.

The Canadian was staying with friend and countryman, Felix Auger-Aliassime, during his breakout tournament, and there was a poster of Nadal in Auger-Aliassime's home.

"The funny thing about it was he had a Rafa poster, and it's in his house and I kind of took it down as a joke..." Shapovalov said. "After that, I feel like he legitimately took the poster down. He was like 'Nah brother, posters gone, now I got to put up one of you.'"

In a twist of fate, Shapovalov was recently defeated by Auger-Aliassime in the first round of the Madrid Open, only for Nadal to sweep aside the teenager, 6-3, 6-3.

Maybe they should put the poster back up after all.
