Sharapova takes a relaxing Colorado getaway
Maria Sharapova retired from the game just before COVID-19 halted not just the tennis calendar but the world. Although she's no longer serving aces on the court and life in Los Angeles is anything but ordinary, she's a champion and the former world No. 1 is still finding ways to win.
This weekend, Sharapova got away from the city and spent some time outdoors in beautiful Colorado.
Sharapova planned the short and intimate getaway for her boyfriend Alexander Gilkes in celebration of his birthday.
The couple walked past gorgeous waterfalls and lush open fields of green. The two also casually flew into archeological sites of Mesa Verde.
The trip didn't end at just helicopters and captivating scenery. Sharapova and Gilkes also spent time at Sutcliffe Vineyards sipping on world class wine.
"Came for the wine, left with a very satisfied sweet tooth," Sharapova wrote on Instagram.
After her tough beach boxing workout on Friday with trainer Tommy Cassano, the major champion showed fans that it's equally important to take the time to relax and recover.
