Simon hot shot stuns in three-set loss to Federer

Roger Federer was pushed to three sets once again in Basel, this time at the hands of Gilles Simon in the quarterfinals.

The Frenchman was up a break in the first set behind a sizzling hot volley, that even shocked him. He'd drop it in a tiebreak before securing the second set.

Federer still found a way to advance, 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-4 to reach the semifinals at his home event, where he's seeking his ninth title.
