Simona Halep leads WTA stars through sweet Wimbledon return
The defending champion is among many sharing their adventures in their first trips back to the All England Club in two years.
Simona Halep is enjoying a sweet return to Wimbledon in what she hopes will be her first tournament since retiring from the Internazionali BNL d’Italia with an acute calf injury.
The former world No. 1 last appeared at Wimbledon in 2019, where she stunned 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams to capture her second career major title, and was unable to defend her title in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Though she postponed her grass-court preparation at the Bad Homburg Open, Halep has been in good spirits since stepping onto the All England Club—starting with dessert.
