Stat of the Day: Andy Murray reaches 70th ATP final of career in Stuttgart
It’s the former No. 1’s 10th career ATP final on grass, and first since winning his second Wimbledon title in 2016.
Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray’s resurgence in Stuttgart continued today as he took out Nick Kyrgios, 7-6 (5), 6-2, in an all-star semifinal clash at the grass-court event between two of the biggest names in the game.
With the one-hour, 31-minute victory, Murray reaches a double milestone: it’s not only the 70th ATP final of his career, it’s the 10th ATP final of his career on grass.
Murray has a 46-23 career record in ATP finals.
With 46, he has the fourth-most career ATP titles among active players after Roger Federer (103), Rafael Nadal (92) and Novak Djokovic (87).
The former No. 1 has a near-perfect 8-1 career record in ATP finals on grass, with this being his first one since winning his second Wimbledon title in 2016.
