American Danielle Collins battled into the semifinals of the WTA 500 event in San Diego on Friday night, defeating Paula Badosa in a tight two-setter, 7-6 (5), 6-4.

And it was a major milestone for Collins: the 100th WTA win of her career.

After a sparkling college tennis career—she was a two-time NCAA singles champion, graduating from the University of Virginia in 2016—Collins recorded the first eight tour-level wins of her career as a 24-year-old during a breakthrough four weeks in March 2018, reaching the fourth round of Indian Wells (as a No. 117-ranked wild card) and the semifinals of Miami (as a No. 93-ranked qualifier).

She’s notched 92 more wins in the four and a half years since then.

Collins’ victory over the No. 4-ranked Badosa was also the milestone 10th Top 10 win of her career, and there’s a major pattern emerging—all of those Top 10 wins have come on hard courts, and they’ve all come in either the U.S. or Australia.
