Stat of the Day: Nadal reaches 95th Masters 1000 QF

And on Friday, he’ll try to reach his 75th Masters 1000 semifinal.

Each day of the week we'll highlight one of the most intriguing numbers or stats of the day...

R. Nadal vs. G. Dimitrov: Third Round

There were a lot of big stories in Monte Carlo on Thursday—Dan Evans stunning No. 1 Novak Djokovic for his first Top 5 win, David Goffin upsetting Alexander Zverev—but the most impressive performance of the day may have come from Rafael Nadal, who dismantled Grigor Dimitrov, 6-1, 6-1.

His reward for his 55-minute win? A record-extending 95th Masters 1000 quarterfinal.

Nadal is one of only four players to reach 50 or more Masters 1000 quarterfinals since Masters 1000s began back in 1990, along with Roger Federer (87), Djokovic (85) and Andy Murray (51).

The Spaniard is 74-20 in his first 94 career Masters 1000 quarterfinals, and on Friday he’ll try to reach his 75th Masters 1000 semifinal. He holds the record for those, too—Djokovic is next with 69.
