Stat of the Day: Novak Djokovic beats Kei Nishikori for 17th time in a row

It’s tied for his longest winning streak against an opponent—he’s beaten Gael Monfils 17 times in a row too.

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic bounced back from a set down to beat Kei Nishikori in the third round of the US Open on Saturday, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3, 6-2, and in doing so extended his winning streak against Nishikori to 17 matches in a row.

It’s not the first time he’s beaten someone 17 times in a row…

Djokovic leads his overall head-to-head against Nishikori, 18-2, having lost two of their first three meetings before he went on his current run.

He’s 17-0 at tour-level against Monfils.

The Serb’s win on Saturday was also his 975th career tour-level win.

Awaiting him in the next round will be a first-time meeting with No. 99-ranked American wild card Jenson Brooksby.
