Team Bucie to reunite in Prague
The heralded doubles tandem, comprised of Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova, will step out of rehabilitation and retirement, respectively, to compete in Prague in late April. Mattek-Sands shared the news on social media, speaking of her affinity for competing alongside her "lovely lefty Lucie".
The 33-year-old American may be playing it close to take to the tour side by side with Safarova, native to the Czech Republic. Mattek-Sands had another knee surgery just two weeks ago. Ever thirsty for match thrills, she has between five and six weeks to continue her recovery and touch down in Prague to play her first match.
And Mattek-Sands has great reason—five of them, to be exact—to relish playing on the same side of the net with Safarova. The duo has won a quintet of major doubles titles together, including two each at the Australian and French Opens, to go with a singular US Open crown as well.
The Prague Open takes place April 29 through May 4 in the Czech capital city.
