Team Skittles and Frooties? Novak Djokovic, Miomir Kecmanovic win on Halloween in Paris

It’s the traditional question kids ask when going door to door in hopes of stockpiling a bag full of candy on Halloween night. Scoring a diverse set of colorful goodies is all but guaranteed for any haul brought home.
On Tuesday, fans lucky enough to have a seat on Court 2 at the Rolex Paris Masters were treated to Novak Djokovic’s first tournament appearance since he won a historic 24th major title at the US Open.
The world No. 1 teamed up with countryman Miomir Kecmanovic to open his ATP return on the doubles court. And one thing was for certain: each brought their own vibrant flavor to Bercy.
Djokovic rocked a Lacoste kit evoking a mix of Skittles: his red tone gave off the classic taste the rainbow packaging while the purple mirrored the alternative wild berry version.
As for Kecmanovic, his Adidas look presented something else chewy. Perhaps a “Frootie”, otherwise known as the blue raspberry riff of the iconic Toostie Roll.
While their shades may or may not have clashed, the two blended together perfectly when it came to the actual playing. The duo broke serve four times to dismiss Gonzalo Escobar and Aleksandr Nedovyesov, 6-4, 6-2.
For Djokovic, it marked his first doubles victory of 2023. Treats come in all shapes and sizes, but the 36-year-old will have his sights on a king-sized delight in his bid to finish as the year-end No. 1 for a record-extending eighth time.
The Belgrade native launches his singles campaign Wednesday against Tomas Martin Etcheverry and began this event with a 500-point lead over Carlos Alcaraz in the year-end No. 1 race.
