The Deuce Club, 6.18

By Jackie Roe, TW Social Director

I'm keeping things light (well, even lighter than we're used to) today to revive the spirit of the DC, and since the next couple of weeks will be anything but. So ... go ahead and discuss whatever you please! If you have any other Wimbledon draw thoughts or predictions that you didn't share on Pete's post earlier, use this space to let it all out. If the off-topic stuff is more your flavor, then tell us your weekend plans. Doing anything special to celebrate Father's Day?

Sports will be on my mind all weekend, even more so than usual. Not only are we wrapping up Eastbourne and 's-Hertogenbosch (does copying/pasting that mean I'm not a real tennis fan?) and getting ready for Wimbledon, but we've also got some serious World Cup and U.S. Open action to look forward to. (I'm still on the Anyone-but-Tiger bandwagon ... who's with me?) Yesterday was quite a busy sports day, too, with the Los Angeles Lakers winning their 16th NBA championship. Alas, I was rooting for the Celtics, and when the game ended, I wondered if what I was feeling was what many of you experience when The Mighty Fed wins his Slams. Yikes. But not all favorites are created equal, darn it! Anyway, the best part of the game for me was imagining Sasha Vujacic channeling his girlfriend Maria Sharapova as he hit those clutch free throws late in the 4th. She taught him well.

Wrapping this up with some photos from the pre-Wimbledon WTA (and Verdasco) party. Click here and here. Here's an idea: we should do another party DC, except we'll pretend we're at a players' party. Oh, the awkwardness we could conjure up ...

Take care, TWibe!
