Sabalenka, Gauff, Gavrilova get in on Olympic TikTok fun
In Tokyo or following from afar, players have provided plenty of Olympic-themed content for fans to eat up.
The Break: Rapid Fire, Olympics Edition
Olympic season means Olympic TikToks!
The platform is a perfect way for fans to see behind-the-scenes moments, practices, and what itβs really like to participate in the worldβs greatest sporting event.
And players are showing that you donβt even have to be at the Tokyo Games to get in on the fun.
1. Coco Gauff
Coco Gauff hopped on a new trend to share how sheβs feeling about not attending the Olympics this year. The 17-year-old American hopeful tested positive just before she was meant to leave for Tokyo, and had to miss out on competing in what would have been her maiden Olympic Games. Gauff has been majorly missed, and it looks like the feeling is mutual, but at least she can turn to TikTok to find the humor now.
2. Aryna Sabalenka
Aryna Sabalenka, who was seeded third at the Tokyo Games, used her TikTok to share some behind the scenes practice footage from earlier in the tournament. The Belarusian fell in the second round to Donna Vekic, but put up a strong fight in the three set battle. Sabalenka scored a straight-set win in the first round to win her Olympic debut.
3. Daria Gavrilova
Daria Gavrilova was another player unfortunately not in attendance, due to an Achilles surgery she had in January. But the Australian did an exceptional job of showing her followers what life as an Olympic athlete is like with the help of her husband, fellow Aussie tennis player Luke Saville. Not only did he FaceTime her from the Opening Ceremony to help her feel like she was there, but Saville has also sent his wife a look inside the dining hall, videos of the gifts athletes receive, and much more.
