Top 5 Photos, 10/12: Nadal embraces 13th Roland Garros trophy

After hitting a final unreachable wide serve against Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal proved why he is the "King of Clay." In just two hours and 44 minutes, he posted a straight-set victory to lift the Coupe des Mousquetaires once more.

For the next day, Nadal carried the hardware everywhere he went and for as long as he could. These are the Top 5 photos of the 2020 Roland Garros champion.

Nadal did not drop a set during his impressive fortnight in Paris even though entered the event with some doubts. He didn't prepare in normal fashion and fell to Diego Schwartzman in straight sets in his only clay-court warm up event in Rome.

"I was not confident, because you can't be too confident going on court against Novak, but I have been positive thinking I will be able to play a good match," Nadal told press.

Nadal may have had doubts but being the champion he is, he adapted to all the unusual variables 2020 threw at him to capture a record-breaking 13th Roland Garros title. Nadal is the first player in the Open era to win a tour-level event 13 times.

Paris Locker Room

The last time Nadal and Djokovic squared off was in January's inaugural ATP Cup. Nadal would take a straight set loss and that helped Team Serbia lift the team event's trophy. Although it was an emotional loss for Nadal, the 34-year-old doesn't look at his Paris victory as any type of revenge.

"I am not a big fan of revenges, no? I just accept when the things are not going the way that I like," Nadal said. "In Australia he played amazing. For me was very difficult to play well because he played too good, just too good."

His final victory gave Nadal his 100th match win on the terre battue, and he became the first man in the Open era to claim four major titles without dropping a single set. The other three were in 2008, 2010 and 2017 at Roland Garros.

Parisian Rooftops

The biggest accomplishment Nadal's latest major victory brought was joining Roger Federer with 20 Grand Slam titles. Nadal is happy to sit next to Federer with the record number of majors, but he's also excited to see what the future will bring.

"But let's see what's going on when we finish our careers. We keep playing," Nadal said. "I don't know what can happen in the future. I am just excited and of course is something that means a lot to me."
