Amanda Anisimova made her way past No. 5 seed Elina Svitolina, 6-3, 6-3, in Doha. This marks Anisimova's first Top 10 win since last year's Roland Garros, when she upset Simona Halep in the quarterfinals.

Karen Khachanov was challenged during his Dubai opener against Mikhail Kukushkin, but the No. 7 seed posted a 7-6 (2), 6-1 win The world No. 17 suffered a first-round loss in Marseille last week, but seems to be slowly finding his rhythm.

Maria Sakkari just cracked the Top 20 for the first time, and she also rolled past two-time Doha quarterfinalist Julia Goerges, 6-4, 6-3. The Greek started fast in both sets and was able to maintain momentum to the end.

Novak Djokovic may have ran through the net, but he also ran through his his opening round in Dubai. The Serbian defeated Malek Jaziri, 6-1, 6-2, to boost his spotless record to 14-0 in 2020. Djokovic will next face Philipp Kohlschreiber, whom he has beaten on 11 previous occasions.

Anett Kontaveit rallied her way to a 6-4, 7-6 (3) win over Anastasija Sevastova in Doha. The world No. 22 had an impressive quarterfinal run at this year's Australian Open and seems to have the same level of focus and drive at the Qatar Open.
