Top 5 Photos 2/24: Gauff upsets Martic in Adelaide



The upsets continued to roll in at the Adelaide International. The defending champion along with more top seeds saw their campaigns come to an end in Australia. On the men's side in Singapore, top seeds managed to get by unscathed.

Coco Gauff

The 16-year-old came out on top in her third consecutive three set battle in Adelaide when she upset No. 6 seed Petra Martic, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, to advance to the quarterfinals at the WTA 500 event. She will now face off against countrywoman Shelby Rogers for the first time. Rogers posted a dominating 6-2, 6-2 score to knock out No. 3-seeded Johanna Konta.

Marin Cilic

The 2014 US Open champion fell in his Aussie Open first round to Grigor Dimitrov, but the Croatian has already put that rough week behind him. In Singapore, Cilic defeated Taro Daniel, 7-4, 6-4, to move into the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 event.

Jil Teichmann

After a grueling two-hour battle, the 23-year-old clawed her way back to victory to upset No. 8 seed Wang Qiang, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Teichmann is through to the quarterfinals  in Adelaide and will square off against Anastasija Sevastova for the first time.

Alexei Popyrin

The Aussie had a couple of significant wins on his home turf in Melbourne this month and now he's through to the quarterfinals in Singapore. Popyrin got past Bulgarian Adrian Andreev, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3, to stay alive.

Danielle Collins

In a rematch of their semifinal clash last year in Adelaide, Collins flipped the switch against Ashleigh Barty by grabbing a 6-3, 6-4 win over the reigning champion. The round of 16 triumph marked the American's first-ever victory over a world No. 1 player.
