Benoit Paire's last victory over Marin Cilic came in 2013, but on Monday, the Frenchman changed all that. Saving four match points, Paire posted a 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (1), win to advance in Dubai and capture revenge over the world No. 36.

Aryna Sabalenka fought her way past Anett Kontaveit, 7-5, 2-6, 7-5, in Doha. The No. 9 seed is trying to get some big wins under her belt in 2020, after losing in the first round of the Australian Open but reached the quarterfinals in Dubai.

Ashleigh Barty took the court for the first time since falling in the Australian Open's semifinal. The world No. 1 eased past Laura Siegemund, 6-3, 6-2. Barty was meant to face Elena Rybakina next, but she withdrew with an abductor strain.

Stefanos Tsitsipas elevated his level of play to squeeze out the first set and defeat Pablo Carreno Busta 7-6 (1), 6-1. He will next face Alexander Bublik. Tsitsipas recently dismissed the Kazakhstani to advance to the Marseille final.

Stan Wawrinka suffered a close call in Acapulco against American Frances Tiafoe. Combined, the two only converted one break point out of 17 opportunities. Wawrinka would pull out a 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (1), hitting 35 aces, to win in a little over two hours.
