The world No. 2 kept her winning streak alive against Ajla Tomljanovic by posting a 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory to reach the third round. Osaka, playing her first match since dismissing Jennifer Brady in the Australian Open final, has claimed 22 consecutive matches. She has never advanced beyond the third round in her four prior Miami appearances.

Norrie wasn't the only player to spring a sizable upset. The 104th-ranked Duckworth rolled past No. 8 seed David Goffin, 6-3, 6-1, to continue his campaign. By winning back-to-back main draw matches at an ATP Masters 1000 event for the first time, Duckworth is projected to return inside the Top 100 in the new rankings come April 5.

Following his win over Feliciano Lopez, the 21-year-old handed Reilly Opelka a 6-4, 6-2 loss to set up a clash with No. 1 seed Daniil Medvedev.
