Top 5 Photos 3/29: Andreescu activates cruise control

It was a jam-packed day of play by the world's top players. Some saved match points to continue their journey while others swiftly cleaned up shop in the sizzling Miami heat.

These are the Top 5 photos from Monday at the Miami Open:

Bianca Andreescu

A quality match from start to finish, Andreescu dug deep to find an extraordinary level against two-time major champion Garbiñe Muguruza. The 2019 US Open champion painted the lines and punished the ball to take control of the deciding set, which was itself reminiscent of Andreescu's dominant 6-0, 6-1 win at Indian Wells in 2019.

Maria Sakkari

The Spartan star proved her fighting spirit yet again, saving six match points to defeat American Jessica Pegula. Sakkari managed to post a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (6) score to stay alive in Miami and set up a quarterfinal clash against four-time major champion Naomi Osaka.

"I think once you're in the match, you just don't think that, 'I saved six match points already.' It's just that one at a time," Sakkari told press following her gritty victory.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Kei Nishikori

With the Big 3 missing from this year's Masters 1000, Sakkari's compatriot saw it as an opportunity to bring his best tennis and seize the moment. The world No. 5 battled past an in-form Kei Nishikori, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, to reach the last 16 in Miami. He will next face Italy's Lorenzo Sonego for a spot in the event's quarterfinals.

Giuliana Olmos and Gabriela Dabrowski

The American/Canadian duo were immediately faced with the challenging tandem of Desirae Krawczyk and Alexa Guarachi, who claimed the Adelaide title earlier this month. Olmos also paired with Krawczyk in Acapulco, where they reached the final.

The pair slid past the No. 7 seeds and on Monday cruised past Storm Sanders and Anna-Lena Friedsam, 6-2, 6-4, to reach the quarterfinals. The unseeded team will next face "McCoco" teenagers Coco Gauff and Caty McNally.

Aslan Karatsev

Coming into Monday's second-round against Sebastian Korda, the Russian had only lost to Dominic Thiem and Novak Djokovic all season. His confidence was at an all-time high as he just claimed his first ATP tournament in Dubai, but his run of elite form came to a temporary end at the hands of the 20-year-old.

In just 67 minutes, the No. 17 seed fell, 6-3, 6-0, to Korda.
