Friday's semifinal action was a whirlwind of ups and downs, as challenging weather conditions had its say on Day 13 of Roland Garros.

1. Ashleigh Barty battled through a rollercoaster match against 17-year-old Amanda Anisimova. The eighth seed blazed through the first five games, going up 5-0, 40-15 in the first, but the momentum suddenly shifted as Anisimova rallied back to take the opening set and capture the first three games of the second set. Barty didn't fold and had more in the tank to recover to win, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3. She is the first Australian woman to reach the Roland Garros singles final since Samantha Stosur in 2010.

2. Novak Djokovic spoke with a tournament referee about his concern of playing in gusty conditions. After rain stopped play twice, his semifinal with Dominic Thiem was suspended and will resume on Saturday. Thiem leads 6-2, 3-6, 3-1, with the winner set to face a well-rested Rafael Nadal, who has never lost in 11 previous French Open finals.
