Top 5 Photos 8/13: Serena edges Venus in 31st meeting

The action in Prague and Lexington kept fans on their toes on Thursday. The world's best sister act took the court in Lexington for their 31st meeting. Like many of Serena vs. Venus matches, it didn't disappoint with Serena posting a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 score to advance to the Top Seed Open quarterfinals.

"Honestly, I didn't come here to win for the first time in my career," Serena said." I just came here to get some matches and see what happens, I haven't had this much time since the baby. But now, I'm just trying to get some rhythm and see what happens to be honest."

The 2-time Grand Slam champion had another hard day at the office, but was able to pull out a 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 win against Barbora Krejcikova. The Prague Open No. 1 seed will next face Magdalena Frech for a spot in the event's semifinals.

Jil Teichmann

The 23-year-old is into her first WTA quarterfinal after dismissing No. 5 seed Yulia Putintseva, 6-2, 6-2, in Lexington. The world No. 63 will next face the winner of Jessica Pegula and CiCi Bellis.

Haley Carter

Haley Carter and partner Luisa Stefani topped Sloane Stephens and Bethanie Mattek-Sands, 6-4, 6-4, on the hard-courts in Lexington. The No. 4 seeds are into the Top Seed Open's semifinals.
