Top 5 Photos 8/14: Rogers rallies past Serena in Lexington
The rain returned in Lexington and Prague on Friday. Thunderstorms did wash out some play in Prague, while Lexington was able to carry on after a lengthy delay.
These are the Top 5 Photos from Friday.
1
Shelby Rogers
Rogers battled with nerves in the early portions of her quarterfinal match-up against 23-time major champion Serena Williams. The world No. 116 dusted off her jitters to fight past Serena and post a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) score. Rogers will next face Jil Teichmann who is also having a great week in Lexington.

2
Simona Halep
After two difficult three-set matches, the Romanian posted a seamless 6-2, 6-0 score against Magdalena Frech in Prague. The No. 1 seed awaits the winner of Irina-Camelia Begu and Sara Sorribes Tormo in the event's semifinal.

3
Jil Teichmann
On the world No. 63's seventh match point she would taste victory against CiCi Bellis in Lexington. Teichmann defeated Bellis 6-2, 6-4 to reach her first hard-court semifinal.

4
Kristyna Pliskova
The 28-year-old was trailing 2-5 against Ana Bogdan, when the Romanian would limp over to her bench grimacing in pain from a left leg injury. Bogdan would be forced to retire, giving Pliskova a ticket into the Prague semifinals.

5
Elise Mertens
The No. 3 seed slipped past Eugenie Bouchard, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, to set up a semifinal clash with Pliskova on the red clay. The last time the two competitors squared off was at last year's US Open, with Mertens winning in straight sets.
