The world No. 17 weathered the storm against American Taylor Fritz who didn't give up any free points. In the 3 hour and 20 minute battle, Shapovalov managed to post a, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2, score to advance into the round of 16.

Naomi Osaka

The 2018 US Open champion is typically great at remaining calm in tricky situations. But, Marta Kostyuk pushed the 22-year-old to the edge. Osaka yelled multiple come on's, dropped her racquet, kicked it, and was as animated as ever. Still, Osaka pulled out a 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-2 win to avoid being the tournament's latest upset.

The Frenchman was trailing, 4-6, 6-3, 6-5, against a flustered Dan Evans when play was suspended due to rain. The two would continue to battle it out on Friday, and the 21-year-old would fight past Evans through a couple of tough set tiebreakers to claim the match 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5) 7-6 (1).

Angelique Kerber

The 2016 US Open champion passed a tough test from 20-year-old Ann Li. Although the, 6-3, 6-4, scoreline shows a convincing win, Kerber had some trouble finding her rhythm against Li's all-court game. Kerber's win sets up a fourh-round clash against Jennifer Brady.
