Top 5 Photos, July 26: Rublev roars into semis; Gauff takes over D.C.
Rublev scored the biggest win of his career over top seed Dominic Thiem in Hamburg.
More upsets and surprises came out of both Hamburg and Atlanta with new faces securing spots in Saturday's semifinal action. These are the Top 5 photos from Friday.
1. Coco Gauff arrived early at Washington's Citi Open and addressed the media on Friday. Gauff, who is currently ranked No. 143, had to rely on her pre-Wimbledon ranking since the Citi Open cut-off date was before her big breakthrough. The 15-year-old received a spot in the tournament's qualifying draw and will open on Saturday against Maegan Manasse.

2. Recently splitting with coach Ivan Lendl doesn't seem to have much of a negative effect on Alexander Zverev. The German rallied from 6-2, 5-2 down to win the quarterfinal, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2, against Filip Krajinovic in front of his home crowd. He will have to get past defending champion Nikoloz Basilashvili to reach the Hamburg final.

3. In Atlanta, world No. 34 Alex de Minaur cruised to a 6-2, 3-0, lead against Bernard Tomic before the Australian was forced to retire due to an injury. De Minaur broke his compatriot three times before the match ended early. The 20-year-old is into his second semifinal of the year and will face American Reilly Opelka.

4. World No. 78 Andrey Rublev upset Dominic Thiem in the quarterfinals of Hamburg. The 21-year-old fought his way through a 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5), victory to secure his spot his first semifinal of 2019. This is the Russian's second time defeating a Top-10 player and first Top-5 win. He will next face Pablo Carreno Busta, who he hasn't played since beating in Rome in 2015.

5. It was another hot and humid day at the US Open series tournament in Atlanta. The crowd came prepared and soaked up the sun and quarterfinal action with their hats and sunglasses on. Joining Opelka and De Minaur on Saturday will be Cameron Norrie, who beat Alexei Popyrin.
