1. Serena Williams looked comfortable in her 6-3, 6-4, third-round victory over Julia Goerges. Williams was able to pick her spots with her peerless serve and maintained her perfect head-to-head record against the German. With three matches under her belt she heads into the second week of a major for the 60th time in her career.

2. The British long distance runner Mo Farah took a break from his marathon training to watch other athletes compete under pressure. Farah is the first Brit to win two gold medals at the same world championships, and is one of the most decorated British athletes of all time. This is Farah's third year attending Wimbledon. Tennis legends Rod Laver and Billie Jean King also enjoyed the Centre Court action.

3. Rafael Nadal dominated his third-round match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-2, 6-3, 6-2, to advance to the second week. Nadal showed no mercy, stepping into the court to attack and using his serve to set up winners. Nadal tends to gain momentum as tournaments move along, and he's one step closer to a potential semifinal match-up against Roger Federer.

4. World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty quickly dismissed Harriet Dart, 6-1, 6-1, on Dart's home turf to reach the round of 16 at the All England Club for the first time. In just 53 minutes, Barty powered past Dart to claim her 15th consecutive match win. The French Open and Birmingham champion will seek revenge against American Alison Riske, who she previously lost to back in 2016 on grass.

5. The No. 6 seeds Nikola Mektic and Frank Skugor ended Andy Murray's hopes of adding a doubles title to the two singles titles he won after posting a 6-7 (4,) 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Murray and Pierre Hugues-Herbert. The duo lost a closely contested first set, and it appeared the match was headed in the same direction, but the Croatians upped their game to level the match and eventually prevail.
