1. Naomi Osaka put an end to US Open champion Bianca Andreescu’s 17-match winning streak. The 21-year-old revealed some amazing shot-making skills as she left everything on the line in her 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 quarterfinal victory. The world No. 4 is now just two wins away from claiming her third WTA title of the season.

2. Novak Djokovic eased past Lucas Pouille, 6-1, 6-2, to move into the Japan Open’s semifinals. The world No. 1 seems to be playing without pain following his retirement from the US Open round of 16 match due to a left shoulder injury. He will next face David Goffin for a spot in the Tokyo final.

3. Though she was down, Ashleigh Barty was never out as she clawed her way back to victory against Petra Kvitova. The Aussie recovered from a set down to claim the match 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Barty will next meet Kiki Bertens, who dismissed Elina Svitolina on the China Open’s Lotus Court.

4. Stefanos Tsitsipas dominated the court to score a quarterfinal win over American John Isner. The Greek powered his way to a 7-6 (3), 6-3 victory, his 41st match win of the season. He will next battle Alexander Zverev, who he has toppled in their last two meetings.

5. American Sofia Kenin stopped to sign autographs at the China Open Citic Bank Booth before taking the court with doubles partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands. The duo survived a close, 2-6, 6-4, 10-8, quarterfinals match against Demi Schuurs and Anna-LenaGronefeld.
