1. Qualifier Dustin Brown continued his impressive run on Thursday defeating Alexander Zverev, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3, in Stuttgart. His triumph over the No. 1 seed marked his first ATP-level win since the US Open 2017. The German has shown everyone before he can defeat the best on grass with wins over Wimbledon champions Rafael Nadal and Lleyton Hewitt.

2. Donna Vekic had to make a switch in surfaces as rain forced play indoors yet again in Nottingham. Vekic stormed by lucky loser Chloe Paquet, 6-1, 6-2, and is into the quarterfinals for the third year in a row.

3. The 18-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime secured his spot in the quarterfinals with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Giles Simon. The Canadian is seeking his first ATP title this week and next faces Brown.

4. Alja Tomlijanovic rallied past Harriet Dart 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-2 at the Nature Valley Open in Nottingham. The Australian will battle for a spot in the semifinals against Tatjana Maria.

5. Dennis Kudla squeezed past Gael Monfils, 7-5, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3), to claim his spot in the Stuttgart quarterfinals. The win over the 16th-ranked Monfils marked Kudla's biggest to date.
