The WTA doesn’t lack for new blood. In addition to Bianca Andreescu, 2019 introduced us to a debut Roland Garros runner-up in Marketa Vondrousova, and semifinalist in Anisimova; and a first-time Wimbledon quarterfinalist in Karolina Muchova. Who might make a similar splash in 2020?

While she hasn’t gone deep at a major, it’s probably only a matter of time for 19-year-old Dayana Yastremska. The Ukrainian has already won three titles, she attacks fearlessly and creates her own winners from the baseline, and she’s stubbornly competitive. Yastremska—the name will ring a bell among baseball fans of a certain age—doesn’t have a signature win yet, but she has steadily improved her ranking and shown that she can win finals. And unlike some other young stars, Yastremska also shouldn’t feel the pressure of expectations this season.
