Ugo Humbert out until 2022 after opting to recover from undisclosed injury

World No. 29 Ugo Humbert has announced he is stopping for the rest of the season with an unspecified injury.
The Frenchman, 23, has not played for a month, withdrawing from Indian Wells, Antwerp and this week's Paris Masters. Humbert, who reached the quarterfinals at the Tokyo Olympics, also withdrew from November’s Davis Cup Finals.
Humbert indicated that he had been having injury problems for a ''few months," saying on social media, "I unfortunately didn't succeed to come back on tour despite all my determination and effort."
He added that while it was "frustrating" to not play in Paris or represent France in Davis Cup, he would look to recover and aim to have a successful return next season.
French newspaper L'Equipe said that he had recently done some training at the national center and complained of leg pain following an hour of play.
Humbert had a solid season, winning his first 500-level title in Halle and getting to the semifinals of Marseille to reach a career-high No. 25 in the rankings. On the major stage however, he went just 1-4.
