US Open champion Bianca Andreescu shifts attention to WTA Finals
The Canadian fell to Naomi Osaka in the Beijing quarterfinal, ending her 17-match winning streak.
Bianca Andreescu is turning her attention to the WTA Finals following her defeat at Beijing, saying she's playing even better than at the US Open.
The Canadian teenager was ousted by Naomi Osaka in three sets at Beijing, the first meeting between the tour's two top young players—both Grand Slam champions. It's also Andreescu's first defeat to a Top 10 player following victories in all previous eight Top-10 meetings in her career.
"I think we're going to have many matches like this. Our game styles are pretty different, but they level up pretty equally," Andreescu said.

The defeat was her first, not counting retirements and withdrawals, in more than six months. "I mean, it's disappointing. I forgot how it feels," she said.
But Andreescu still took confidence from the event, saying her level was as good or higher than during her first Grand Slam victory at Flushing Meadows.
"Yeah, I think I'm playing really well. Maybe even better than at the US Open. I don't know. I'm feeling my shots way better actually," she said.
She has now qualified for the WTA Finals for the first time, and says her aim is that her play "can just get even better from here so I can do well" at the elite eight-player event.
Andreescu will move to No. 5 in the rankings.
