Kristie Ahn

Ahn hadn't captured a single Grand Slam match prior to the 2019 US Open, but the American is showing everyone what perseverance can do. The world No. 141 pulled out a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Jelena Ostapenko in her all-white Lacoste dress with touches of neon and black trim. The wild card is into the US Open's second week and will face Elise Mertens, who she defeated earlier this hard-court season in San Jose.

Sorana Cirstea

The Romanian battled qualifier Taylor Townsend wearing a two-tone blue dress that resembles the blue hard-courts in New York. Cirstea couldn't overcome the skilled serve-and-volleyer, and would fall, 7-5, 6-2, inside Louis Armstrong Stadium.
