UVA alums celebrate NCAA championship win
'Hoos Danielle Collins, Jarmere Jenkins and more show pride for alma mater.
On Monday, the University of Virginia’s men’s basketball team won the NCAA Championships for the first time in the program’s history. This run to one of the most prestigious titles in college sports came a year after the Cavaliers were upset in the first round.
And this triumphant turn by the squad was greeted with praise on social media from some notable alums of the school who made their presence felt on the tennis court.
Danielle Collins, this year’s surprise Australian Open semifinalist, knows a thing or two about national championships, and was excited to welcome some new blood to the fold.
Thai-Son Kwiatkowski, another national champ, has been stoked throughout the team’s run.
Jarmere Jenkins, the former ACC Male Athlete of the Year while at UVA, also took time to show his love.
Somdev Devvarman—yet another national champion—was following the action from Chennai and was all in.
And former Top-100 pro Brian Vahaly summed up his feelings in one word.
