WATCH: Barty aces Tiger in Yarra River pop-up challenge
Ashleigh Barty has proven before that her athletic abilities extend well beyond the tennis court and earlier this week, served up a reminder in a familiar city.
The world No. 1 outshone 15-time major golf champion Tiger Woods in a tee shot challenge on the Yarra River in Melbourne. The American’s shot found the water, while Barty’s effort was struck with enough distance to reach the pop-up green.

Woods is in town for the Presidents Cup, captaining a U.S. squad that also features Justin Thomas, Gary Woodland, Ricky Fowler, Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson. Ernie Els is at the helm for the International team, headlined by home favorite Adam Scott. The friendly competition begins Thursday.
On Wednesday, Barty was named as the WTA’s Player of the Year.
