WATCH: Evans pulls off behind-the-back shot in Melbourne
Has the shot of the Australian Open been struck before main draw even begins? Dan Evans probably thinks so. The Brit hit a stunning behind-the-back winner past his second-round qualifying opponent Jurij Rodionov.
Andy Roddick Tweeted that the shot is "one of the best" he's ever seen. Evans would win the match, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 and is just one win away from the main draw.
As you probably already know, Evans is on his way back from a doping ban after testing positive for cocaine in 2017. He was ranked No. 55 at the time, but after serving the one-year ban he had to start over from zero. The 28-year-old played mostly on the ATP Challenger circuit after returning in mid-2018, and his ranking is up to No. 190.
He'll play world No. 109 Paolo Lorenzi on Friday.
