WATCH: Fist bump goes wrong for Zverev in Acapulco
There are a lot of ways to close an interview, and closing moves like a smile or a nod, or even a hand shake or fist bump with the host isn’t unusual. In Acapulco, Alexander Zverev and Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj went viral for a failed closing.
The world No. 3 went in for a fist bump to close the interview, only to get rejected when Amritraj did not notice the gesture. Zverev even tried to brush it off by folding his hands together, but the emotional scars were already made.
And this moment, of course, reminded journalists of other fist bump fails in tennis history, such as this one involving Kristie Ahn a year ago in Charleston.
Zverev would go on to Nick Kyrgios in the Acapulco final, and win the doubles title with his brother Mischa.
