WATCH: Holger Rune boasts strongest legs, shortest shorts in BNP Paribas Open interview

The world No. 7 was in good spirits after reaching the fourth round in Indian Wells, comparing his quad muscles to Novak Djokovic’s at the Tennis Channel Live Desk.

INDIAN WELLS, Calif.—Who wears short shorts? 🩳

Holger Rune does, and he’s happy to make them even shorter in a pinch.

“I think five inches is pretty good,” he said of his Nike inseam at the BNP Paribas Open. “I don’t know how long these are, but they’re around five.”

Rune has attracted notice for his nod to 80s tennis fashion, sporting shorts reminiscent of peak John McEnroe. Visiting the Tennis Channel Live Desk after a 6-2, 7-6 (5) win over Lorenzo Musetti, the Dane joked that pulling them higher helped him shake off a missed overhead and secure the match in straight sets.

“Did you see 5-5 in the tiebreaker? That’s why he missed the forehand. It’s a small mind trick.”

Since he’s showing them off, how does Rune stack up against the likes of practice partner Novak Djokovic or even Quad Fathers Marcos Giron or JJ Wolf?

“I’m not being selfish or anything. I just believe in my legs, not just the look, but on the court, I believe they’re efficient,” smiled the No. 7 seed.

Rune will likely put his legs to the test in his next match: the 20-year-old will face on 2022 champion Taylor Fritz for a spot in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
