She has been called a "tennis sorcerer" and a "player/geometrician"—both during the same match. Hsieh Su-wei is one of the most entertaining players in the sport for her one-of-a-kind game that defies the preconceived laws of baseline tennis. She opts for precision rather than pace; she finds more angles than a veteran columnist; she torments most everyone she plays, sometimes for the entire match. The latest player to discover that, on Tuesday, was Bianca Andreescu. With much trouble, the 35-year-old ousted the No. 8 seed to reach the third round of the Australian Open.

Before the tournament, we had a chance to catch up with Hsieh for an extended interview—one she ended up leading. As you'll see, she remains an entertainer in discussing her native Taiwan like no one else.
