WATCH: Kyrgios plans to build facility to help children
Nick Kyrgios plans to build a sports facility in Melbourne for disadvantaged children.
The center, Kyrgios said on Players Voice, will give underprivileged children the opportunity to play a wide range of sports, including tennis and basketball, as well as provide "things to eat and beds to sleep in."
"I obviously wanted them to have a place where they can stay," Kyrgios said. "It's a family there for them, and they can feel like they belong there."
Tennis Australia tweeted that the $100,000 that Kyrgios will earn in his exhibition against Juan Martin del Potro in Argentina will go to the Nick Kyrgios Foundation.
Kyrgios said he envisions his center holding exhibitions of its own so the children can get a chance to see star players.
"You never know, we may have some superstars coming out of there as well," Kyrgios said.
