WATCH: Kyrgios tweaks Rinaldi, then interviews with him
A few hours after asking "who the hell" Tom Rinaldi was, and is, Nick Kyrgios stood in an Ashe Stadium hallway to talk with the interviewer-commentator live on ESPN.
"Very good to see you," Rinaldi said to Kyrgios, who replied, in part, "That's hilarious."
The 24-year-old Kyrgios would lose in straight sets to a poised 21-year-old, Andry Rublev. With that and a men's doubles withdrawal, his US Open ended rather unceremoniously for all the antic-riddled thrills that he brings to fans who regard his matches on TV and live on the scene.
"Amazing aura about him," Kyrgios said of Rinaldi after his singles loss. "Yeah, [he] was awesome."
If he pulls his game together for a two-week spread, the same might yet be said about the Aussie.
