WATCH: Puig returns to Puerto Rico with Sharapova
The two helped distribute supplies to the hurricane-ravaged islan
Monica Puig and Maria Sharapova traveled to Puerto Rico聽on Monday聽to help distribute supplies to the victims of Hurricane Maria.
Puig, Puerto Rico's first Olympic gold medalist, purchased the supplies with the proceeds from her YouCaring fundraiser, which has received over $150,000 in donations so far.
According to her聽YouCaring page, items included cooking stoves, propane cylinders, solar-powered lamps聽and medication.
"This is the first trip to come and bring help," Puig聽wrote.聽"And it certainly won鈥檛 be the last one."
The governor of Puerto Rico thanked both players for their support...
...as did two-time Grammy winner Ricky Martin.
This trip came just days after Puig's run to the Luxembourg final, which she dedicated to the people of Puerto Rico.
The last time Puig and Sharapova were in Puerto Rico together (Sharapova's first-ever visit to the island) was for an exhibition 10 months ago.
