WATCH: Raonic wins Tie Break Tens in Indian Wells

Milos Raonic got his time in Indian Wells started on the right foot on Tuesday, by winning the “Rafa & Friends” Tie Break Tens Eisenhower Cup.

With thudding forehands, rocket serves and assertive play at the net, Raonic defeated Gael Monfils (10-7), Marin Cilic (10-3) and Stan Wawrinka (10-6) consecutively in super tiebreaks.

As a result, he won $150,000—and raised more than $500,000 for local charities.

Rafael Nadal, the headliner of the show, beat Taylor Fritz in the first round, but lost a tight one to Wawrinka in the semis, 13-11.

And perhaps the biggest takeaway from the event was its innovative coin-toss alternative: rock, paper, scissors.

Fritz may have lost his first tiebreak to Nadal, but at least he conquered the Spaniard at the very start.

He also got some quality time with the 17-time Grand Slam champion, as players not on court stayed warm on courtside stationary bikes.

The rock, paper, scissors coin toss should stick around, or at least be considered for events like the NextGen ATP Finals.
