WATCH: Wozniacki's emotional Australian Open title win
She's done it. Caroline Wozniacki won her first career Grand Slam with a 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-4 win over Simona Halep at the Australian Open.
The Dane was emotional immediately as she rises back to No. 1, over seven years after first reaching the top of the ranks. It took Wozniacki 12 years on tour and 43 Grand Slam appearances to hold a major trophy aloft:
But all of that effort was worth it on Saturday in Rod Laver Arena:
Wozniacki nearly exited the tournament in the second round, saving two match points against Jana Fett.
Halep is 0-3 in Grand Slam finals, and now officially becomes the best player on tour to have not won a major (yet).
