When will Carlos Alcaraz play his Roland Garros first round match?
Carlos Alcaraz is set to kick off his 2024 Roland Garros campaign on Sunday, May 26 against a lucky loser J.J. Wolf.
Alcaraz and Wolf are scheduled to compete second on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
The Spaniard will be seeking his third Grand Slam title and his first on clay, having already triumphed on hard courts (US Open) and on grass (Wimbledon). He reached the semifinals last year, his best result in Paris where he owns a 11-3 record.

What did Alcaraz achieve in 2024?
For Alcaraz, an up-and-down season punctuated by triumphant highs and worrying injury layoffs is becoming par for the course. After starting out on a high reaching his first Australian Open quarterfinal and winning his fifth ATP Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells, the 21-year-old found himself having to once again pump the brakes on his momentum.
Alcaraz withdrew from Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome as a result of a lingering right forearm injury, and has been wearing a compression sleeve during recent matches. Of course, none of that has stopped him from remaining the oddsmakers' favorite as many of the ATP's top seeds have also arrived in Paris under an injury cloud.
Where did Alcaraz land in the 2024 Roland Garros draw?
No. 9 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and No. 6 seed Andrey Rublev are the two biggest names in Alcaraz's section of the draw, all having landed in the bottom half of the men’s singles draw—which is anchored by No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner.
Both are players with serious clay-court credentials, with Tsitsipas being a three-time Monte Carlo champion and Rublev winning two clay-court Masters 1000 events—including the Madrid Open earlier this month, where he defeated Alcaraz on his way to the title. Alcaraz could meet the Russian again in the quarterfinals in Paris; their head-to-head is locked at a win apiece, with Rublev clinching their only clay encounter. For Tsitsipas, it could mean a rematch of last year's Roland Garros quarterfinal, which saw Alcaraz improve to 5-0 against the Greek (3-0 on clay).
Alcaraz will have to wait another day to get a clearer view of his potential path to the title: His first-round opponent is Wolf, and should he advance to the second round he would face either Jack Draper or Dutch qualifier Jesper de Jong.
Houston champion Ben Shelton and Madrid finalist Felix Auger-Aliassime also loom as threats in Alcaraz's section.
