Wimbledon Day 9 Surprises: Bautista Agut peaks at 31

Roberto Bautista Agut very quietly reached his first career Grand Slam semifinal on Wednesday. The world No. 22-ranked Spaniard appeared the quarterfinals of the Australian Open earlier this year as well. He'll play top seed Novak Djokovic for a spot in the final, and though he has a losing record against him, he won their last two contests, in Doha and Miami this year. The 31-year-old, who's getting married in November, had to reschedule his Ibiza bachelor party, with six friends changing their flight patterns to London.

Federer's 100

Roger Federer eased past Kei Nishikori in four sets to record his 100th Wimbledon victory. Somehow 100 doesn't seem high enough, but he's actually the first male in history to win 100 matches at a single major. With the win, he also beats Jimmy Connors' record of 186 grass-court wins. The Swiss has won a record eight Wimbledon titles, and now has a 100-12 record at the All England Club.

Nadal and Djokovic Demolish

While dominance at the top of the game is nothing new, fans expected a bit more drama in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Instead, Djokovic and Rafael Nadal lost a total of 15 games and zero sets. Djokovic even won his second set over David Goffin without losing a game. Goffin was even up a break for 4-3 in the first set before succumbing 6-4, 6-0, 6-2, while Nadal dispatched Sam Querrey, 7-5, 6-2, 6-2.

MuRena Ends

Much to the disappointment of the crowd, Serena Williams and Andy Murray's third-round match ended in a loss. The two champions were up against the top seeds, Nicole Melichar and Bruno Soares. They put up a fight, helped by Soares' unexpected double faults in the last game of the second set, but ultimately lost, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

Ostapenko Misfires

Jelena Ostapenko is an elite WTA player and the 2017 French Open champion, but even she messes up sometimes. The Latvian hit her partner Robert Lindstedt with a serve not once, but twice. The incidents were both laughed off, and aren't the first for Ostapenko. In women's doubles action, she won a point when her second serve hit her opponent Alize Cornet. Ostapenko and Lindstedt are into the quarterfinals.
