WTA players dominate Forbes' Top 10 highest-earning female athletes

The ten highest-earning female athletes are all tennis players, according to Forbes, with Serena Williams still on top but Naomi Osaka moving up the ranks.

Williams annual earnings are $29.2 million, said Forbes, including $25 million off the court. Osaka was second with $24.3 million, including $16 million off the court.

Osaka has signed several sponsorship agreements—including a lucrative clothing switch—since winning her first Grand Slam at the 2018 US Open. She previously earned $1.5 million off the court.

Next were Angelique Kerber with $11.8 million in total earnings and Simona Halep with a little more than $10 million. Sloane Stephens was No. 5 with $9.6 million and Caroline Wozniacki No. 6 with $7.5 million.

Maria Sharapova, previously a fixture as the highest-paid female athlete, was seventh with $7 million in earnings, down to around $5 million off the court.

Karolina Pliskova and Elina Svitolina were No. 8 and No. 9 with a little more than $6 million. Tied for tenth were Venus Williams and Garbine Muguruza with $5.9 million earnings.
