This is today's thread for discussing the WTA Year-Ending Championships in Madrid, and other tennis-related matters du jour - such as Serena Williams' injury-related pullout from the YEC, to be replaced by Marion Bartoli, the alleged poisoning of Tommy Haas prior to the reverse singles during the Davis Cup semifinal in Moscow, the draw for Shanghai, which starts on Sunday, or even the start of the this week's BlackRock Tour of Champions event in Belgium today, which will see both Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe in action, with the two scheduled to meet on Saturday.

Today's matches in the Madrid arena will be Svetlana Kuznetsova versus Maria Sharapova, in the Red Group, followed by two Yellow Group matches, Justine Henin against Marion Bartoli, and Jelena Jankovic against Anna Chakvetadze. Henin, with two straight-sets victories so far this week, is already confirmed as a semifinalist; it looks likely that Ana Ivanovic, with two victories and the loss of one set, will also reach the semis.
