“I have to believe that I can do it, and I know how to do it.”

Six years ago, an unseeded 19-year-old burst onto the world tennis stage when Madison Keys stunned Venus Williams to reach the Australian Open semifinals. Two years later, she went one step further to land a spot in the US Open final.

“If you told me two months ago that I would be holding a finalist trophy at the US Open, I would be really happy and proud of myself,” said Keys, who made another major semifinal run afterward at the 2018 French Open.

Off the court, the five-time WTA titlist has been embracing positivity. A victim of online bullying, the 25-year-old launched Kindness Wins in 2020, an anti-bullying initiative.

Also a fan of interior design, the multi-hyphenate star is hoping to turn her passion into a business after she retires from the sport.

“I’m very interested in interior design,” the former world No. 7 says. It’s something that I want to do after tennis.”

No matter what Keys decides to delve into, she'll have a well-rounded resume.
